So what is “Travel Ethics” about?

The reason this site isn’t called “The Ethical Traveler” is because it’s not about any one of us individually. It’s about our collective societies interacting with each other and the world.

We’re not here to give out tips - we’re here to have a conversation. One that you are always encouraged to join, so long as you commit to being thoughtful, respectful, and honest with us.

Ethics are inherently complex. Gray areas on all sides. We hope you learn something while you’re here, but we also hope that you understand that there’s always more learning (and unlearning) to be done. There is no end point at which you become an “ethical traveler” who doesn’t have to think about their actions anymore. Reflection is a life-long process, and while we know it can be difficult and gut-wrenching at times, we promise it’s worth it.
